Even with the iPhone 5′s better battery life (see our full iPhone 5 review here), there’s a good chance you’re going to need your Lightning cable handy for a quick recharge. However, carrying around the one Lightning cable that comes with the iPhone can be a pain, and with Apple’s new stringent accessory policies, finding a cheap extra cable is next-to-impossible.
The Nomad Lightning Cable combines the portability of a thumb drive on a Lightning cable. The Nomad Cable system takes a Lightning connector on a 3-inch cord with a USB holder on that fits on your key chain, making it as easy as carrying a thumb drive on your key chain. Currently available on Kickstarter for only $15 (the early bird $5 and $10 options are already sold out), this still puts the Nomad Lightning Cable $5 less than Apple’s Lightning Cable.

Upon successful funding at $29,000 (at the time of this writing $2,862 has been raised), the Nomad Lightning Cable is scheduled to ship in February, just after many will be getting their new iPhone 5 for the holidays. Even with 28 days left on the Kickstarter campaign, it’s better to get the Nomad Lightning Cable while they’re still only $15.
